U.S. State Department spokesperson, Jen Psaki, referring last night (Thursday) to U.S. sanctions on Iran said, "We are not easing up on sanctions."
When asked about new sanctions, she replied, "It is important to take into account the potential progress of the talks. We are attempting to progress in the negotiations."
The U.S. government has been holding negotiations with Congress over the last several days to avoid the need to present tougher sanctions at next week's round of meetings in Geneva between the six world powers and Iran.
